Frequently Asked Questions
Expert answers to your aesthetic treatment questions
How long have you been injecting?
Our lead practitioners have 8 and 10 years of injection experience, respectively. This extensive experience ensures you're in skilled hands for all your aesthetic treatment needs.
What's the difference between Botox and filler?
Botox and fillers work in completely different ways to achieve different aesthetic goals:
Botox (Neurotoxin) temporarily relaxes the muscles that cause wrinkles by blocking nerve signals. It's primarily used for dynamic wrinkles that appear with facial expressions - like crow's feet, forehead lines, and frown lines. Results typically last 3-4 months. However, there are impactful ways Botox® can be used in the lower face and neck as well.
You mean I can treat my lower face, jawline, and neck with Botox?!?
Yes! Botox can be effectively used to address concerns in the lower face, jawline, and neck areas. One important aesthetic principle we follow is ensuring balance by matching decades on the top and bottom of your face. If your forehead looks 30 but your neck shows signs of aging, a comprehensive approach creates a more natural, harmonious appearance. Treating the lower face and neck can provide subtle refinement and rejuvenation that complements upper face treatments.
Dermal Fillers add volume and structure by using hyaluronic acid to restore lost volume and structure. They're used to restore volume loss, enhance features, fill deep lines, and create definition. Depending on the type, fillers can last from 6-18 months.
During your consultation, we'll recommend the best treatment approach based on your specific concerns and aesthetic goals.
Can you fix my nasolabial crease with Botox?
No, nasolabial creases (the lines that run from the sides of your nose to the corners of your mouth) require filler, not Botox. First, we typically start with treating the cheeks and midface area with filler, as this provides lift and support that naturally softens the nasolabial folds for a more harmonious result.
How do I get rid of jaw clenching?
Botox is an excellent solution for jaw clenching! By relaxing the masseter muscles, Botox can significantly reduce clenching and its associated symptoms like jaw pain and headaches. For optimal long-term results, we recommend using the period when the Botox is active (typically 3-4 months) to "rehab" those muscles by incorporating stretching exercises and alternating heat/cold therapy. This comprehensive approach helps retrain the muscles and potentially reduce clenching habits even after the Botox wears off.
Does it hurt to get filler?
While there is some discomfort with filler injections, our patients tolerate the procedure VERY well. We use various techniques to minimize discomfort, including topical numbing creams and products containing lidocaine. Remember, some things are worth it! The temporary discomfort is quickly forgotten when you see your beautiful, natural-looking results.
You do a lidocaine block before I get my lips done?!?!?!
Yes! For lip filler treatments, we perform a dental block using lidocaine to completely numb the area before injection. This makes your lip enhancement experience significantly more comfortable. Our priority is ensuring you have the most pleasant treatment experience possible while achieving gorgeous, natural-looking results.
How can I get a smooth forehead and still lift my eyebrows?
For most patients, this isn't possible. The same muscles that create forehead lines are responsible for lifting your eyebrows. When we completely relax these muscles for a perfectly smooth forehead, some brow mobility is sacrificed. We work with each patient to find their ideal balance between wrinkle reduction and maintaining natural expression. Our skilled injectors can create a customized treatment plan that gives you the most aesthetic result while preserving the expressiveness that makes you uniquely you.
How long will Botox last?
Botox typically lasts between 10-16 weeks. The duration varies based on individual factors such as metabolism, muscle strength, and treatment area. First-time Botox users may notice their results wearing off a bit sooner, while regular users sometimes enjoy longer-lasting effects as muscles become conditioned over time. We'll help you establish an ideal treatment schedule and 3-4 months of longevity but dose definitely effects duration and, treating at or close to the recommended dosage will give you better longevity.
How many times a year do I need to do lip filler?
Most patients maintain their lip enhancements with treatments 1-2 times per year. Lips tend to metabolize filler more quickly than other areas due to the constant movement and high vascular nature of the tissue. Your individual metabolism and desired fullness will determine your ideal treatment frequency. We can work with you to develop a personalized maintenance plan.
How often should I do my filler?
Most fillers (with the exception of lips) last approximately 12-18 months. However, most patients typically address their filler needs about once per year. Rather than waiting for complete product dissolution, maintaining results with regular treatments often requires less product over time and preserves a more consistent appearance. During your consultation, we'll create a customized treatment plan based on your specific needs and aesthetic goals.
What's the most important thing I can do to take care of my skin?
The two most critical components of any skincare regimen are sunscreen and daily use of medical-grade skincare products. Consistent sun protection prevents premature aging and protects your investment in aesthetic treatments. Medical-grade skincare delivers active ingredients at therapeutic concentrations that produce real results. During your consultation, we can recommend a personalized skincare routine to complement your aesthetic treatments and help you achieve your skin goals.
